The life of South Azerbaijani human rights defender and Nobel Peace Prize laureate Nargiz Mohammadi, who is being held in Tehran's Evin prison, is in danger.

Axar.az reports that this was reported by lawyer Mustafa Nili on his X account.

He stated that Mohammadi, suffering from several illnesses, has a high probability of bone cancer due to an internal injury detected in her right leg.

“To determine whether it is malignant and to make a diagnosis, Nargiz Mohammadi must be transferred to the hospital as soon as possible for examination,” he added.

At the same time, former U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton shared a post regarding Nargiz Mohammadi. She called for the human rights defender to be granted medical leave for continued treatment, stating:

“The prison administration is quietly killing the human rights defender and Nobel Peace Prize laureate by denying her the opportunity for treatment.”
