Germany has urged Israel to allow more humanitarian aid into northern Gaza, where a shortage of supplies has created a "desperate" and "unbearable" situation, according to a spokesperson for the German foreign ministry on Monday.

Axar.az reports that the spokesperson emphasized at a regular news conference in Berlin, "We call on the Israeli government to urgently fulfill its responsibilities under international law."

He added that 'Israel has the right to self-defense against Hamas within the framework of humanitarian international law.'
