US President Joe Biden congratulated Maya Sandu on her victory in the presidential elections held in Moldova.

Axar.az reports that in the official letter released by the White House, Biden called this victory "historic".

"Citizens of Moldova have chosen a path associated with Europe and democracy in all other parts of the world," the congratulation said.

Biden also stressed that Russia has been trying to undermine Moldova's democratic institutions and election processes in recent months.

It should be noted that in the second round of the elections held yesterday, Maya Sandu won with 55.33 percent of votes.
