Indonesia and Russia launched their first joint military training exercises in the Java Sea on Monday, according to the Indonesian navy.

Axar.az reports , citing Reuters, analysts suggest that this move reflects Indonesia's openness to building relationships with various countries.

The joint exercise occurs as Indonesia's newly-inaugurated President Prabowo Subianto has committed to strengthening defense ties with Russia, aiming to foster connections with all nations as part of Indonesia's longstanding non-alignment foreign policy.
