The Ministry of Culture has published an obituary on the death of People's Artist, a prominent representative of mugham art, Arif Babayev.

"Azerbaijani culture has suffered a heavy loss. People's Artist and prominent representative of mugham art, Arif Babayev, has passed away.

Arif Babayev has rendered great services for many years in the development of our national musical art, in the preservation of the mugham school and in the training of a new generation of performers. His rich creativity, pedagogical activity, and contributions to art will forever live in the cultural heritage of our people.

The Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Azerbaijan expresses its deepest condolences to the family, relatives, and the entire cultural community of the deceased artist.

May God have mercy on him!".
