If the constitution of any country has claims against the territory of another country, it should be stopped.
Axar.az reports that Hikmat Hajiyev, the assistant to the President of Azerbaijan and head of the Foreign Policy Affairs Department of the Presidential Administration, told journalists.
Hikmat Hajiyev noted that the position of Azerbaijan is clear:
"Azerbaijan expects Armenia to put an end to its territorial claims against Azerbaijan on a constitutional basis. We understand that the constitution is an internal matter of each country. But if there are claims against the territory of another state in the constitution, they should be put to an end, and the legal framework should be in a form that will completely put an end to territorial claims, so that we can move forward on this basis. Azerbaijan suggested that Armenia and Azerbaijan jointly apply to the OSCE to terminate the activities of the Minsk Group. Because there is no need for an institution like the Minsk Group to remain. If there is no conflict, what is the reason for the existence of the Minsk Group? In this regard, Azerbaijan proposed to the Armenian side that as a temporary approach, we can agree on the main principles that will form the basis of the establishment of relations and the principles that can form the basis of the neighborly relations between the two countries. I wouldn't call it an interim peace agreement. It should be taken into account that in 2021, the initiator of the principles that will form the basis of the peace process as a whole was the Azerbaijani side.
