Tharman Shanmugaratnam, the former deputy prime minister of Singapore, won the presidential election.
Axar.az informs that "The Straits Times" reported on this.
According to the publication, Shanmugaratnam received 70.4 percent of the votes, while his rivals Ng Kok Song and Tan Kin Lian received 15.72 percent and 13.88 percent respectively.
"I am confident that the new leader of Singapore will perform his duties as president very well," Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong said on the occasion of Shanmugaratnam's victory.
