A meeting was held in Baku between Azerbaijani Deputy Prime Minister Shahin Mustafayev and his Russian counterpart Alexei Overchuk.

The current state and development prospects of Azerbaijani-Russian economic cooperation in various directions were discussed at the meeting.
It was noted that in 2024, the trade turnover between the two countries increased by more than 10%, and this positive trend continued in the current year. And it was emphasized that mutual trade in 8 months increased by 13.5% compared to the same period last year, reaching $3 billion 350 million.
The volume of transportation along the North-South corridor increased by 8.3% in 9 months of 2025. 10.4% of this falls on automobile transportation, and 2% on railway transportation.
During the first 8 months of this year, a 15% increase was observed in the export of agricultural products from Azerbaijan to Russia, of which 23% was accounted for by fruit and vegetable products.
The parties expressed satisfaction with the progress of joint projects implemented in the fields of investment, industry, transport-transit, energy, customs, and other areas.
In the context of strengthening transport relations, special attention was paid to the development of the North-South international transport corridor, and the importance of synchronous implementation of infrastructure expansion works along the corridor and ensuring a continuous increase in cargo flows was emphasized.
During the meeting, views were also exchanged on the effective use of the existing potential of cooperation, further expansion of mutual relations, and the implementation of new joint initiatives.
At the same time, the importance of the Azerbaijan-Iran-Russia trilateral meeting held in Baku was touched upon, and confidence was expressed that the negotiations held and the decisions taken would contribute to further strengthening cooperation in relevant areas, and would be beneficial for all three countries and the region as a whole.
