Five years have passed since the Minjivan settlement of the Zangilan region, one of the ancient settlements of Azerbaijan, was liberated from the Armenian invaders.
Axar.az reminds that on October 21, 2020, in addition to the Minjivan settlement, the villages of Babayli, Utsukhna Aghaly, Saril, Khumarly, Hajally, Khurama, Jahangirbeyli, Turabad, Icheri Mushlan, Girag Mushlan, Malikli, Udgun, Baharly, Balyand, Papy, Tulus, Tinli of Jabrayil region, and the villages of Gecegozlu, Ashaghi Seyidahmadli, and Zargar of Fuzuli region were liberated from the invaders.
The Minjivan settlement is located on the banks of the Araz River, in a plain. It was formed as a result of the settlement of families who came from the Minjivan village of South Azerbaijan as a result of famine in 1795-1798, and the name of the village there was also given to the new settlement. In the 19th century, two villages named Minjivan were registered in the Zangilan district.
The settlement was occupied by the Armenian armed forces in 1993. Before the occupation, there were residential buildings, schools, libraries, kindergartens, and a railway station in the settlement. After the First Karabakh War, the Armenians destroyed all residential buildings, schools, libraries, and kindergartens, and dismantled and took away the railway. The enemy sold part of the rails here and built anti-tank fortifications from part of them.
